Saint Benedict School salon opened by Sally Montague
Saint Benedict School has introduced Level One City and Guilds Hair and Beauty into the curriculum.
Students wishing to continue their studies of this subject into sixth form are offered Level One City and Guilds in Salon Services (equivalent to two GCSE A-G) and Diploma Level Two City and Guilds Diploma in Women's Hairdressing (equivalent to five GCSE A-G).
Year 10 students will be studying modules covering customer service, basic salon reception duties, personal presentation, health and safety, introduction to hairdressing services, introduction to basic perming and colouring, applying basic make-up, providing basic manicure, industry and occupation awareness. All teaching and learning takes place in a purpose built salon on site.
Sally Montague opens School SalonNatasha Smetana (14) is a year 10 student currently enrolled on the course. She said "I've always wanted to be a hairdresser and thought this would be a great opportunity to learn more about the industry."
The school has invested in a salon facility equipping it to contemporary professional salon standard complete with reception and waiting area, adjustable back wash basins and mirrored work stations.
Sally Montague visited Saint Benedict School to officially open the facilities, share her career history and working life as a salon owner and employee.
