SHU SESSION

We asked Isabel, Senior Stylist at Ashbourne, to go to L’Oreal HQ in London for a Shu Uemura photo shoot. Isabel was briefed to create a futuristic Tokyo inspired model and we think the final look below perfectly captures this.

“I created a mood board showing inspiration for the brand and to help communicate on the day to Shu squad. The trends to choose from included shittori texture , vintage Kawai , natural kei, samurai strength. My chosen theme  samurai strength represented strength, shine , structure, power , control and warrior. Make up artists, professional photographers and the Shu team were there to help create the look, with Ben Hards being the team director to my chosen theme.”

ILLUMINATE, NOURISH AND PROVIDE THE ULTIMATE PROTECTION FOR YOUR HAIR WITH COLOUR LUSTRE

The collection is enriched with precious Musk Rose oil, which is fortified with fatty acids to illuminate the hair and combined with the anti-oxidant properties of Goji Berry extract to prevent oxidation and colour fade. Alongside this intense protection, the range will also protect your hair against hard water, pollutants, and other environmental aggressors with the help of a new, innovative ingredient: refining lipid. Refining lipids nourish and protect the hair by providing a hydrophobic layer to mimic the hair’s natural protective varnish.

The collection consists of a sulphate-free shampoo, a weightless conditioner, an intensely nourishing treatment & a luxurious thermo-milk and truly is the ultimate luxury hair care for your colour.

Introducing the sulphate-free shampoo – designed to gently cleanse colour-treated hair – this shampoo will leave your hair feeling purified, and your colour protected.  Specifically designed to nourish colour-treated hair, the conditioner will enhance the natural radiance of your hair.

Next to follow in the regime is the shimmering restorative treatment to illuminate and nourish the hair.  And last but by no means least, the thermo-milk, enriched with the highest concentration of refining lipid in the range, to nourish and protect the hair fibre during heat styling.  This product is applied to damp/towel dried hair and blow dried in to finish.

LIZZIE FOX IS AWARDED SECOND PLACE AT THE SHU UEMURA 2014 MUSE IMAGE AWARDS

Sally Montague Hair Group Art Team Colour Specialist and Sadler Gate Salon Manager, Lizzie Fox, celebrated being awarded second place earlier this year at the exclusive Shu Uemura Art of Hair photoshoot at the luxury haircare brand’s 2014 Muse Image Awards.

The awards, which were launched last year, are sponsored by Tribute Magazine – the high-end artistic magazine for hairdressers – and aim to give visibility to stylists with vision and talent. Entrants were invited to submit an image of an avant-garde female in order to win a place on a regional shoot where they could create an avant-garde look of their own.

MY INSPIRATION, LIZZIE FOX

My initial inspiration for the look came from the Dolce & Gabbana mosaic print and the Sicilian influence which is at the forefront of all their iconic collections. I was especially drawn towards the royal pose and crown, and wanted to create my own more abstract version within the hair, without using any ornaments. I didn’t want to create anything too structured and so I started looking into different fabrics and architecture to see how I could develop my look. I found the Revolution tower building in Panama and this influenced the twists within the crown. I also wanted to create a contrast between the regal and the rough, looking at texture of rope helped me define the texture with the hair. To create my look I used Shu Uemura Art of Hair Tasai cream and Liquid Fabric which gave great texture and a malleable hold.
